The Industrial Museum
In 1905 the world’s first industrial production of mineral fertilizer – with air as raw material – started in Notodden. The Industrial Museums tells the story, a modern fairy tale, that took place in Telemark more than 100 years ago.
It all happened at a time when the world were in need of more food and farmers needed more fertilizer to increase crop yields. A visit in the industrial museum and the exhibition will make you better acquainted with the discovery of how to make fertilizer from the nitrogen in the air around us, the creation of Norwegian Hydro and all the events that put Notodden and Rjukan on UNESCO World Heritage list.
